Summer Workforce Development Program Overview:
This summer, TPI will run an impactful Summer Workforce Development Program for both high school (ages 14-18) and college students & recent graduates (ages 19-24) interested in healthcare, medicine, or biotech. The program, running from June 17 – August 30, 2025, offers participants the opportunity to gain exposure to hospitals, labs, and research environments through shadowing professionals and on-site learning within three tracks: Clinical, Academic, and Biotechnology. A key component of the program for all interns is mandatory career readiness & soft skills workshops with YouthWorks on Fridays.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Program Coordinator Intern to play a crucial role in the successful execution of our Summer Workforce Development Program. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for a college student or recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in program administration within a growing non-profit focused on healthcare equity. The intern will work closely with the Program Coordinator and the Executive Director, directly contributing to the positive experience of our summer interns (both high school and college).
This is a temporary, hybrid position for approximately 30 hours per week at a rate of $20/hour (maximum 240 hours for the summer).
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support for the Summer Workforce Development Program, assisting the Program Coordinator in all aspects of program delivery.
- Serve as a key point of contact for summer interns (both high school and college), addressing their inquiries and supporting their program experience.
- Assist with the coordination and communication related to internship site placements across the Clinical, Academic, and Biotechnology tracks.
- Help organize and track student registration, onboarding, and matching to internship sites.
- Support the logistical arrangements for site visits and other program-related activities.
- Assist in the communication and coordination of the mandatory career readiness & soft skills workshops with YouthWorks.
- Help collect feedback from interns and site supervisors to evaluate and improve the program.
- Contribute to capturing the experiences of students through surveys, testimonials, or other methods.
- Ensure timely and effective communication with the TPI team regarding program updates and intern needs.
- Assist with other administrative tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the summer program.
Qualifications, Desired Skills, Experiences, and Competencies:
- Seniors or recently graduated college students preferred.
- In order to qualify for this position, candidates need to be at most 24 years of age.
- Collegiality and Relationship Management; Experience working with high school and college students and external community partners, and sponsors.
- Excellent communication skills, strong writing ability, and an understanding of the nuances of writing for different audiences.
- Innovative, strategic, and analytical thinking skills; creative problem-solving aptitude; shares findings with the team.
- Initiative, drive, motivation, and passion for our mission and values. Ability to learn quickly, set and meet deadlines, and work efficiently and effectively. Dedication to collaboration, good judgment, and teamwork.
- Demonstrated success and commitment to creating a positive customer experience for both clients (field partners) and candidates is essential.
- The ability to be flexible and adapt to different needs and tasks is essential, especially considering that we are a small and growing organization.
- 2+ years (paid and/or unpaid) of experience in program management, nonprofit work, or educational projects is a plus.
