Karen is the Program Coordinator for the high school summer and fall internship programs at TPI. She holds a Master’s in Public Health from Tufts University School of Medicine, concentrating in Health Management and Policy, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Family Studies and Microbiology from the University of Washington.
Her career thus far has focused on early childhood and family success, from the clinical side as a Pediatric Medical Assistant, to the educational side as a Youth Teaching Assistant. Racial and health equity is also the center of her work, and in 2024, she published a paper in the Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities titled “Connecting Past to Present: Does Historical Redlining Affect Current Life Expectancy?” which looked at systemic racism and its impact on health outcomes.
In her free time, Karen enjoys baking, playing tennis, and discovering new restaurants.
