Who This Program is For
The Paid Internship is open to high school students (11th-12th), recent graduates, and college students who reside in the City of Boston and Massachusetts who are interested in careers in medicine, health sciences, and STEM. The internship provides students with clinical exposure, training in scientific research, and key soft skills needed for academic excellence and professional development. Ideal applicants demonstrate the ability to work well independently and in small groups, are keen to learn new skills, and are curious to enquire. Recipients must commit to full attendance and participation.

Clinical and research-oriented internship helps students focus on acquiring the right extracurricular experiences needed for admission to medical school, health sciences programs, and preparation for STEM careers.
Building student confidence and critical thinking skills in a way that aligns with problem-finding and problem-solving in STEM careers.
Hands-on experience to expand student understanding of STEM course content.

What This Program Offers
High School
- Payment rate: $15/hour up to 175 hours
- Summer program runs from June 24 - August 30, 2024
- In-person Clinical Internship Experience
- Maximum of 25 hours per week and 5 hours a day during the summer session
- School year program from mid-October 2024 - late-April 2025
- Hybrid After-School Research & Lecture Based Experience
- Maximum of 10 hours per week during the school year
College Students & Recent Graduates
- Payment rate: $20/hour up to 240 hours
- Summer program from June 17, 2024- August 30, 2024
- Maximum of 30 hours per week and 7 hours per day during the summer session
- School year program from mid-October 2024 - late-April 2025
- Maximum of 15 hours per week during the school year

Program Requirements
- Very passionate about science and careers in STEM
- Black, African American, Hispanic, or Latinx origin
- Must be resident of City of Boston or Massachusetts

Youth Program:
Ages 14-18 and must be enrolled in high school, post-secondary, or a GED/HiSET/Alternative Education program -
Young Adult Program:
Ages 19-24, community college and university students
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to work well independently and with others and keen to learn
- Commit to full attendance and participation during their selected session

Summer Clinical Program Experience
- Assist with administrative duties
- Assist with transporting equipment and delivering food to patients and families
- Providing information to patients and visitors
- Assist as a technician in clinical pathology lab
- Opportunity to shadow physicians in different specialties and observe clinical procedures
- Gain training in financial literacy, leadership and socio-emotional wellbeing
Summer Research Program Experience
- Learn the use of scientific equipment under supervision
- Work one-on-one with a PhD mentor on neurobiology, cancer, GI tract, photomedicine and other interesting research projects
- Learn how to collect, compile and analyze data
- Perform range of job-related duties as assigned
- Gain training in financial literacy, leadership and socio-emotional wellbeing
