Celebrating Doctors’ Day!
Dear Friend,
Today is National Doctors’ Day, an opportunity to celebrate the dedication and skill of the physician community. At The Pathway Initiative (TPI), we are grateful for the amazing physicians currently serving our community, particularly those who help mentor and train TPI students, and we are honored to play a role in shaping, and diversifying, the future doctors of America.
Despite ongoing challenges to programs focused on diversity and inclusion, TPI remains committed, hopeful, and dedicated to our mission of supporting and inspiring the next generation of doctors. You can ensure we remain able to provide pathways for promising students by donating today or setting up a recurring monthly donation. Make your commitment today and help us reach our goal of raising $25,000 to fund five summer clinical internships for college students this year.
As one student recently said: “The more students who can pursue medicine and participate in programs like TPI, the more people we can all help in the future.”
Please enjoy the updates below, and thank you for being a valued member of the TPI community.
With thanks,
Lawrence B. Mensah, DPhil., Ph.D.

Meet TPI Staff: Amanda Roberts

Rare Disease Summit
Last month, staff from TPI attended the Boston Globe’s Rare Disease Summit, an annual event bringing together industry leaders, health care professionals, and advocacy organizations to discuss advancements and challenges in rare disease research and patient care. As a non-profit partner, TPI leaders connected with others who share our mission of increasing access and opportunities for underrepresented communities in medicine, and continued to spread awareness of our work. Thank you to the Boston Globe for providing this valuable platform to connect with others in the healthcare ecosystem!
Support Our Work
Did you know $200 is all it takes to fund a STEM tutorial for 2-5 high school students? Every dollar donated makes a difference for our students – and the more we can raise, the more students we can help. Please donate to The Pathway Initiative today, in honor of Black History Month, and help reduce the barriers underrepresented students face in their journey to becoming doctors. Make a one-time or monthly gift online, or contact us for more ways to give, including through stock, donor-advised funds, planned giving, and more.
