The Opportunity
We are seeking an Experiential Learning and Internship Program Coordinator to join our team as we grow our impact in the Boston area and beyond. The Program Coordinator will work with the Executive Director to manage the High School summer internship program with the City of Boston, fundraising and grant applications, volunteer coordination of students, and to present a positive image of The Pathway Initiative to external audiences through effective communication and organization of all programs.
The Pathway Initiative is a partner organization of the City of Boston’s SuccessLink Summer Youth Employment Program. This program is funded by the City of Boston and is designed not only to recruit and hire youth, but to ensure their employment experience is engaging, meaningful, and a building block on their path for professional development and personal success. Every year the City of Boston invests approximately $10 million dollars in community-based organizations across the city to provide the youth with early exposure to career paths. Our goal is to provide a meaningful and informative learning experience supporting youth who are interested in a career in the medical profession. These experiences provide purpose-driven work and are essential to the social change mission of TPI.
Main Responsibilities Include:
- Manage student application flow from the recruitment process through placement for the SuccessLink Youth Employment Program with the City of Boston
- Collaborate with local internship partners to ensure the effectiveness of each student’s internship experience
- Coordinate the delivery of soft skill training by advisors during the student internships
- Act as a primary point of contact for internship sites, students, and their parents
- Ensure timely collection of placement data and learning outcomes
- Coordinate annual TPI program launch and fundraising event
- Oversee completion of on-going grant applications
- Manage volunteer assignments and their projects
- Lead the production of photography/videography, and infographics to capture the experience of interns at the end of the summer program
Desired Skills, Experiences, and Competencies
- Agile; Previous experience with project organizing and managing academic or internship programs. Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and needs.
- Collegiality and Relationship Management; Experience working with high school students and external community partners and sponsors
- Excellent communication skills; strong writing ability and an understanding of the nuances of writing for different audiences
- Innovative, strategic, and analytical thinking skills; creative problem-solving aptitude; shares findings with the team

- Demonstrated success and commitment to creating a positive customer experience for both client (field partners) and candidates is essential.
- 2+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field, including internships.
- Undergraduate degree in business management, human resources, marketing, or related field. Advanced degree and/or related certifications helpful.
This is a part-time position of 15 hours/week and a hybrid schedule is possible.
The TPI office is located in Boston. The hourly rate for this position is $25-30/hour depending on experience.
